1 Corinthians 10:13. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
James 4:7. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Submission comes before resistance.
Paul reminds us that temptation is not unique and that God's faithfulness is our way of escape. James orders the battle: submit to God, then resist the enemy.
Father, in this temptation, make a way of escape. I submit to You; help me to resist and to stand.
Where have I been trying to resist without first submitting, and where is the way of escape I have been ignoring?
Identify your usual way of escape from this temptation and take it this week. Remove one trigger that makes the way harder to see.
