Colossians 3:21. Paul tells fathers not to provoke their children, lest they be discouraged, a timely warning when tension runs high. Luke 15:20. The father in Jesus' parable did not chase or force; he watched, waited, and ran with compassion when his son returned. Paul's caution addresses how easily firm parenting slides into provocation. Jesus' prodigal story reveals a Father who stays present and compassionate through distance. Father, keep my heart soft toward my child in this hard season. Help me to wait with hope and to run with compassion when the moment comes. Where am I trying to force an outcome that I have not yet entrusted to God? Before Friday, initiate one peaceful, unhurried conversation. Listen twice as much as you speak, and defend nothing.
