Marriage

Ephesians 5:25. Christ's self-giving love is the model for marriage: a love that lays itself down rather than keeping score. Ecclesiastes 4:12. A threefold cord is not quickly broken. When a marriage is woven together with Christ, it carries a strength no two strands alone can hold. Paul writes to the Ephesian church describing marriage as a living picture of Christ and the church. The call to love is not a feeling to muster but a self-giving commitment, sustained by the One who loved us first. Father, teach me to love my spouse the way Christ loves me: patiently, selflessly, and without keeping record of wrongs. Bind us together with You. Where have I been keeping score instead of giving myself the way Christ gives Himself to me? Today, do one practical act of love for your spouse without expecting anything in return, and without mentioning it.
