Proverbs 17:17. A friend loves at all times, not only when it is convenient. Covenant friendship weathers seasons a casual friendship would not survive.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10. Two are better than one, because when one falls the other lifts him up. Friendship is a provision of God for the hard places.
These proverbs celebrate friendship as a refuge, not a luxury. We were not made to carry life alone; God often meets us through the hand of a friend.
Lord, make me a friend who loves at all times. Show me who I am to lift up today, and who I am to let lift me.
Am I investing in friendship the way I want to receive it, or am I withdrawing when it costs me something?
