1 Timothy 5:8. If any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith. Care for family is tied to the faith itself.
Proverbs 23:22. Despise not thy mother when she is old. The aged are to be honored, not set aside.
Paul ties care for one's own household to the faith, and Proverbs guards the dignity of an aging parent. Caring for those who once cared for you is holy work, made sustainable by grace and by learning to ask for help.
Father, help me to honor my parent in their need as they once met mine. Sustain me in this care, and teach me to ask for help.
Where have I been carrying this caregiving alone, and to whom could I honestly ask for help?
Identify one task you can hand off, and ask one person for help with it this week. You were not made to bear it alone.
